Orchestra by Sri Venkateswara International School, New Delhi

The song while reviving eco-consciousness conveys the message of communal harmony as well .School students aspire to have a HARMONIOUS WORLD where man and nature exist as one of the BIOSPHERE-EARTH. This is what 'THE FANGS'-The school orchestra of Sri Venkateshwar International School, Dwarka. Winner of two national level competitions -The Best School Band Award at CSE and at Recess 2011 and several Inter School Competitions brings forth. When they perform it seems as if they are interacting with our consciousness. For listeners it alters one's state of mind. For the band members, the two way interaction between mind and music becomes a real time response of the audience. The two way interaction is very enthralling for all and opens a window into the soul revealing content of which you may not have been consciously aware. They rendered a song 'The Realization' on climate change that won them the Best School Band Award on March 28,2012 in the award ceremony organized by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) .The song is on climatic change trying to awaken the mankind to undo the damage caused to the environment by adopting sustainable practices for eco-conservation. While the music is intended to affect the listener's mood, composition by Mr. Abhishek Sharma , the music teacher of SVIS, is especially designed for the purpose of altering the listener's consciousness. The use of a unique musical instrument made the performance out of this world. Use of Rainstick, a long , hollow tube filled with small pebbles or beans has small pins or thorns arranged basically on its inner surface. When the stick is upended, the pebbles fall to the other end of the tube, making a sound reminiscent of rain falling. Another musical instrument used by them was Gecko Clacker- a very unique sound affects instruments. The use of these instruments helped in completely mesmerizing the listeners along with putting forth the message. The band also won the national level competition Recess 2011. The song was on communal harmony composed again by the school music teacher. It goes like "Paththar ki imaarat me paththar ke shiva kya hai

Dil hi me maszid dil hi me shiyalay hai"
A very thought provoking performance that had a tremendous emotional affect on the audience and made every one ponder on the same. It explored the interplay between mind and music. Many other performances of the band have won them several awards. It has a distinctive sonic personality that it sets itself apart or one that can be defined as special by the repertoire it plays. In refinement of the tone, impeccable intonation, ensemble tautness and the sheer warmth of sound is a class apart; an experience to be experienced. It's musical intelligence and very personal sound makes it standout. The participants include two vocalists, six on musical instruments-drum, two keyboards, one guitar, one rainstick, one clacker, one maracas.

    Daily Dump, New Delhi
Daily Dump is a social enterprise dedicated to empowering the citizens to become green champions. Started by visionary and social entrepreneur Poonam Bir Kasturi over 7 years ago, Daily Dump products and services support a sustainable living community and empower Indians to become green citizens. Daily Dump has the know how to change the image of waste and our 'at home' composters have kept over 10,000 kgs of waste out of landfills everyday. We see waste as a wasted resource; each home can turn their organic waste into rich compost, while being a part of a great community initiative to keep waste out of landfills. Most of our products are made of terracotta and handmade, which by themselves are environmentally more sustainable and widen opportunities for the local artisans too. For more information on Daily Dump, please visit: www.DailyDump.org Daily dump tells you how an alternative way can help in dealing with your daily waste. Our waste can be broadly categorized into two types - inorganic and organic waste. Organic waste can be broken down naturally and mainly consist of vegetable and fruit matter. Inorganic waste is not easily degradable and consists of material like plastics, glass, metals etc. most of which can be recycled - so you need to send only 5 % of your everyday waste to a landfill. What Daily dump gives you is a solution on managing your ORGANIC waste at your home. In lieu, we are showcasing the most liked product of ours, the KHAMBA!! At the Organic Haat @ CMS Vatavaran 2014.
We work on an open-source platform for others to also use the knowledge and build on it. We are slowly developing into a community of domain experts who have experience on the ground.

    Fibres Haathi Chap, New Delhi
The method used for making elephant dung paper is more or less the same as making other varieties of handmade paper. There are minor changes we have had to make because of the fibrous nature of the raw material. Making sure that the paper is not harmful for the papermaker as well as the user was our biggest challenge… so disinfectants are used to make the paper as bacteria free as possible.

Anita Chauhan In collaboration with Shimla Municipal Corporation, New Delhi
Title of display: Explore Shimla through Nature Walks
The conservation of urban green spaces is linked with sustainable environment in cities, both on a physical basis and by way of their impact on the attitudes of the city dwellers. These green spaces may be patches of natural forests or wetlands that constitute the city's original landscape, or are man-made structures such as parks, ponds, and river-side recreational areas. The urban green spaces provide several 'ecological services' to the urban environment, such as flood mitigation, temperature regulation, control of dust and noise pollution. Apart from that, the urban green spaces also provide a home to the natural flora and fauna of the region, sometimes functioning as 'green corridors' connecting wildlife habitats. Not only do these habitats provide an opportunity for the public to experience and learn about the natural flora and fauna, and identify with the key species, they also provide recreational spaces, thus improving the health of city dwellers. According to experts, educational programmes such as guided 'Nature Walks' conducted on a regular basis in cities, help to favorably change the people's lifestyle towards sustainability by influencing the choices they make on a daily basis.
The city of Shimla, situated at an elevation of 2200 m in the Greater Himalayan range in Himachal Pradesh, presents one example of a green city. Its 'green belts' are protected through a municipal notification. As the visitors may be aware, after the 74th Amendment to the Constitution, the preservation of urban green spaces and urban environment is the responsibility of the respective municipal governments. Shimla's mixed coniferous forests and streams provide a habitat for the plants, birds and animals that are found in this forest type. Shimla's Nature Walks are an ideal way for the residents and the visitors to explore this rich biodiversity.

Title of display: Kaziranga's Wildscape Paintings
I wish to display my paintings in the upcoming Diversity in Nature exhibition. My paintings focus on wildlife and landscape of the protected areas of Assam, such as the Kaziranga National Park and depict the scheduled animals in their natural habitat. I have been painting for more than 20 years now. The paintings are oil-based on canvas. Recently, one of my paintings have been gifted to Sri Aamir Khan and Sri Karan Johar by the Assam Forest Department during his visit to the Kaziranga National Park in Assam. Various Government Departments, Non Government Organisations and Societies have been using my paintings and illustrations for public awareness activities in different parts of Assam. My paintings have been featured in a number of exhibitions on nature and wildlife awareness in different places of the state.

Title of display: Wetland Conservation Project, Pampore, Kashmir, High Resolution Photographs
The Wildlife Conservation Fund, a non-profit organization, founded in 2010, has a clear mission to save wildlife and wilderness across the Jammu & Kashmir. Our story began in early 2000's when we campaigned to protect migratory birds at the wetlands in Pampore, Kashmir against poaching. Today, we protect many of the J&K's iconic creatures including Hangul (Kashmiri Stag), Snow Leopard, Western Tragopan, Markhor and many more. During last 2 years, we have focused the power of our conservation work and management on Dachigam National Park, Conservation Reserves of Khrew and Khanmoh and Wetland Reserves in Pampore, Kashmir. We currently manage about 1 National Park, 2 Conservation Reserves & 4 Wetland Reserves and educate students on important issues affecting our wildlife in the State of J&K. We at 7th CMS VATAVARAN "Diversity in Nature Exhibition" would like to share the high resolution photographs of our work on Highlands & Wetlands in and around Pampore, We have documented the rear species of Migratory Birds, and we want to display them at the Exhibition to gain the support for our Campaign to save wetlands of Pampore. I am attending the Film Festival to connect with the likeminded people, so that we can share our experiences with the larger audience at the 7th CMS VATAVARAN.The idea behind coming to CMS Vatavaran is that, we as passionate wildlife Conservationists believe in sharing resources and ideas to make this world a better place to live in.
