Prithvi Awards

PRITHVI RATNA AWARD

The coveted CMS VATAVARAN Prithvi Ratna Award has been instituted in 2003 by CMS VATAVARAN in partnership with UNEP, and given to a filmmaker for exemplary work in the field of environment throughout his/ her career and being able to effect changes in perceptions and policies via their work.

This award is conferred upon a filmmaker for exemplary work and being able to effect changes in perceptions and policies via their work, in the field of environment throughout his/ her career. Previously the award has been bestowed upon Mike Pandey, Naresh Bedi, Shekar Dattatri, Krishnendu Bose, Ashish Chandola, Sanjay Barnela, Himanshu Malhotra and Rita Banerji.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nominee must be an Indian citizen.
  • Individuals should be engaged in the environmental and wildlife conservation film making as a selfless service and not only as a part of any project or institution. They need to showcase body of work including films, workshops, awards, and appreciation
  • Minimum period of involvement should be 10 years.

PRITHVI BHUSHAN AWARD

CMS Prithvi Bhushan award is bestowed to recognize the efforts of leadership in environment conservation and transformational achievements, on ground. It endeavours to recognize efforts and achievements that have benefitted the environment and promoted human welfare.

Previously the award was bestowed upon Shri Anupam Mishra, an Indian Gandhian, author, journalist, environmentalist, and water conservationist. In 2017, this award went to Shri Chandi Prasad Bhatt, eminent environmentalist and renowned Gandhian activist.

Prithvi Bhushan 2019 will be awarded for contributions in the field of Environment Conservation.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nominee should be of Indian nationality
  • Nominee may be a Government employee but should be involved in the conservation work beyond the call of his/her duty.
  • Individuals should be engaged in the environmental and wildlife conservation activities as a selfless service and not only as a part of any project or institution.
  • Minimum period of involvement should be 10 years.

The winner of the award will be selected based on their level of leadership, equity and accountability in the conservation management, and effectiveness in conserving it.

For Prithvi Ratna and Prithvi Bhushan, each Award carries a Trophy, Citation & Cash Prize

Last Date for Nominations: November 05, 2019 (self-nominations are also welcome)

Please send information regarding the work of the nominee and broad fit with the mandate of award which may include resume and a passport size photograph along with working photographs, videos (if possible), certificates, recommendation letters, etc.

These Awards will be announced and felicitated on November 30, 2019 at Ambedkar International Centre, 15 Janpath New Delhi during the Gala Awards Function of 10th CMS VATAVARAN Environment & Wildlife Film Festival and Forum.
