SIRMOUR VATAVARAN TRAVELS TO BE ORGANIZED FROM JUNE 1 - 3
ON THE OCCASION OF WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
As momentum gathers to celebrate World Environment Day on the 5th of June, Vatavaran will travel to Sirmour, a small district in Himachal Pradesh. Vatavaran, India's Primer Environment and Wildlife Film Festival is traveling across the country to screen topical and award winning films on poignant local and national environmental and wildlife issues.
"Vatavaran, is a film festival with a difference, it is a movement to create concern and compassion for the environment through the powerful medium of documentaries" says Alka Tomar, Festival Director. "This year, we are committed to organizing Vatavaran screenings in many small and large cities and town across India, and the festival in Sirmour is a step in this direction" continues the director.
Vatavaran, organized by the Centre for Media Studies in association with Govt High School, Moginand, Dist Sirmour, will be screening eight films over three days for the students and rural women in Sirmour. More than 1000 children would be participating in the festival along-with villagers in three days film festival. Films like Victims of Garbage Dump, Magic of Life, Rainwater Harvesting and Buddha Weeps in Jadugoda will be screened at the festival. Some of them animated, some on better conservation approach and some like Chasing Butterflies celebrating nature will form a part of this package. This is first time Sirmour district would be hosting such event.
To make the festival lively and interactive, a host of games and exercises would be organized to make it an entertaining environmental education programme.
