Environment and Wildlife Traveling Film Festival

In its second year of touring, CMS VATAVARAN Travels renewed its association with the ancient city of Pragjyotishpur - Light of the East. Overlooking the banks of the majestic Brahmaputra, Guwahati is literally the Gateway to Northeast.
Amidst its luscious environs, Assam, home to the endangered one-horned Indian Rhinoceros, is also known for its famed tea gardens, renowned sanctuaries - Manas and Kaziranga. It is also a hotbed for ecological and environment concerns.
Themed Forests for Us, We for Forests, Guwahati CMS VATAVARAN 2006 - Environment and Wildlife Traveling Film Festival was held from 24th to 26th November 2006 at the Guwahati Tea Auction Centre, G S Road, Dispur. The festival was jointly organized by CMS, Aaranyak.
Workshop on "What Makes a Good Environmental Film?" by Krishnendu Bose, Eminent Documentary Filmmaker and Workshop on "Green Media & Green Films in Northeast India: Challenges and Opportunities" were held as parallel events.
Besides the screening of the Best of Indian Films on environment and wildlife, Regional Films on environment and wildlife from different parts of the northeast formed a special part of the screenings.
Guwahati CMS VATAVARAN 2006 - Environment and Wildlife Traveling Film Festival reached out to a large number of people in various fields, including filmmakers, NGOs, government organizations, Public and Private Sector organizations, forging a strong network of individuals and organizations involved in wildlife and environment conservation and also the school and college students apart from general public.
