Green film fest to hit capital screens

Ranchi, Nov. 29: The state will host an environment and wildlife travelling film festival for the first time in the city next month.
As many as 34 films will be screened at CMS Vatavaran 2006, the one-of-its-kind film fest, in Gossner Theological College between 10.30 am and 5 pm from December 7 to 9.
Organised by Centre for Media Studies (CMS), New Delhi, and supported by Manthan Yuva Sansthan, a local NGO, the festival will focus on the rich forest cover in the state with nine films produced by local filmmakers. The Union ministry of environment and forests and United Nations Environment Programme also support this nationwide biennial film fiesta.
Iron is Hot, a 60-minute film by Meghnath and Bijju Toppo, will be shown on the inaugural day. Other local eight films include a 21-minute Hindi film, Raj Mahal, produced by Ashwinin Kumar Pankaj, Adavi Evari Kosan — Whose Forest (English, 52 min) produced by Shriprakash, Development Flows from the Barrel of Gun (English and Hindi, 54 min) produced by Meghnath and Biju Toppo, Roro Ki Asbhispatt Pahadiya — Cursed Pahadiya Tribes of Roro Hill (Hindi, 30 min) by Ashwinin Kumar Pankaj and three other films produced by Diksha Kumari Prasad, Puman Kerketta and Sidhir Pal.
All the local filmmakers will be felicitated at the festival, said festival manager Ashwini Sinha.
