Global Green Peace - Kashmir

In the mad rat race to crass materialism, environmental issues are the first casualties. And what follows is a full scale deterioration of closely linked fabrics of human life and ultimately "Humanity" becomes the most endangered species on this planet. There are, however, certain individuals who take upon themselves the onerous task of standing up against the demons of apathy, avarice and indifference. Global Green Peace Kashmir prides itself on being an association of such concerned individuals who are committed to make a difference, howsoever small, to enrich the quality of life of the inhabitants of Kashmir in particular and the whole world in general.

Since its inception on 27th of March 1997, GGP has been tirelessly working on a gamut of issues ranging from Environment to Education, Youth Development to Promotion of locals Crafts, Health Care to Disaster Management and Voluntary services to Wildlife preservation.

Despite its limited resources GGP has dedicated itself to herald an era of altruistic activism in the state by working on a number of projects on varied issues, by conducting several workshops, symposia, national conferences on a regular basis and by providing consultancy and implementation support to various national and international groups in implementing their projects in the state.

Quite recently GGP came forward as a trusted friend to hundreds of Earthquake victims in Uri when it partnered with HelpAge India to provide shelters and livelihood to more than 700 beneficiaries in the most remote mountainous hamlets surrounding Uri.The hardwork put in by GGP in executing the project earned it laurels from all concerned quarters

Presently GGP is working on various other projects including mega afforestation

project in the jungles of Tangmarg, project on Solid waste management in the Dal Lake and environmental awareness programs in various districts of the valley.

GGP is also actively involved in rehabilitation of landmine victims and is the state representative of "International campaign to Ban Landmines "(ICBL)---an international NGO.

GGP has a well-defined organizational structure aiming at planning and execution of assignments in a scientific manner. GGP enjoys the patronage of eminent personalities of the society having rich experience, varied backgrounds and wide interests. GGP draws its volunteers from schools, colleges who actively participate in all our programs.

Our logo represents the two most important "emblems" of the Kashmir valley. In the background is the leaf of Chinar tree known for its majesty and grandeur but now under serious threat from the Flower whose stamens used to be the major export item not long before, which, unfortunately, is now facing troubled times due to the apathy of concerned quarters.

"Abhi Ishq kay Imtihaan aur bhi Hein"

Global Green Peace is not content with what it is doing today. It is a mission with a purpose. The tasks ahead are as mighty as they are noble. Given the locational disadvantages, unavailability of enough logistical support in terms of men and materials, we sometimes feel handicapped in the face of events which we could have changed, had we the support and patronage of people like you.

We solicit your support, your association, your guidance and your mentorship

We have a local saying, which means "one and one makes eleven".
