Rivers of Life was an initiative by Azim Premji University, the first of a series that aims to depict nature in all its forms depicting the splendour of our rivers through the vivid imaginations of young interns. Their work, intermeshed with generous contributions from civil society groups, come together to form a multi-layered narrative of the river. The exhibition helped students to understand the lifecycle of a river, its civilisations, a source of livelihood, and biodiversity.
The exhibition was made open to all from 2nd November-16th November 2022 that included keynote speakers who have worked on rivers for decades, activities for young students to engage experientially, movie festivals on river-based themes, positive stories that challenge the narrative of doom and gloom, and a photo exhibition shared by interns and practitioners that offer a glimpse to the world of rivers. CMS VATAVARAN in collaboration with Azim Premji University participated in the event for two consecutive days on 11th & 12th November with the exhibition of various films on Rivers. In this film festival, a total of 23 National and International films from different parts of the world were screened on Rivers and relevant environmental issues.
