CMS VATAVARAN celebrated its 4th year of competitive festival in the National capital, this September, presenting 77 films providing fresh perspectives on various issues concerning environment and wildlife to a large audience at parallel venues, namely, the Stein Auditorium, Gulmohar, Amaltas and Mahgony in the India Habitat Centre.
25 CMS VATAVARAN Awards, Rs 12, 50, 000/ - Award Money, 72 Nominations (48 in Indian Section and 24 in International section) from 275 film entries in 18 categories, 5 Technical Workshops, 4 Panel Discussions, a Seminar on the state of rivers in India and an International summit on Climate Change apart from open forums highlighted the 2007 Festival. Dadasaheb Phalke award winner Shri Shyam Benegal, Mr Suresh Prabhu, Member of Parliament and Former Union Minister, Ms Therese Wagle Bazard, Counsellor, Royal Norwegian Embassy, His Excellency Dominique Dreyer, Swiss Ambassador to India, Dr. Gregor Leckebusch, University of Berlin, Germany, Dr R Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Advisor to Prime Minister and Member National Council for Climate Change, Dr Anand Patwardhan, Executive Director, TIFAC were amongst the 60 odd filmmakers, scientists and special guests who discussed various environmental issues and their work at the Festival.
