The Nomination Jury which included 30 people from the fields of communication, media, environment conservation and wildlife looked at all the 244 entries submitted to Vatavaran 2005. The Nomination Jury members came from many different regions including West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Goa, Delhi. Five groups of 5-7 members saw all the entries in the given category to nominate films for Jury.

The seven members Jury selected the award winning films from the nominated 47 entries.

The much coveted Vatavaran Awards were announced in the awards presentation ceremony on 24 November, 2005 (Thursday) at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

The Jury reserves the right to withhold an award in any category for which there is an insufficient number of qualifying submissions, or to create new awards for films deserving special recognition.
