Subject Focus: Management of traditional rainwater harvesting.

Summary: The documentary film talks about five unsung people, who have kept the intricate traditional science of water management alive from the modern onslaught. Four of them, Chewang Norphel’s zing , Magga Ram Suthar’s Beris, Ran Singh’s Kundis and Kunhikannan Nair’s Surangam are engineers and Neerkati Ganesan is a water manager. The documentary introduces the viewers to the technique as well as the social management practices governing it.

Producer’s/Director’s Profile: Pradip Saha is a Graduate of Economics. Has mostly worked on visual media, as photographer, graphic designer till 2002, then became the Managing Editor of Down to Earth Magazine. He has made few videos on issues of environment and development with a special focus on water issues. He designed exhibitions on water in World Water Forum in The Hague. Some of the Films produced and directed by him includes Bandits and the Backhanders (2000), Arvari: The Miracle River (2000), Smog Inc (1998), Life Under Wildlife (1998) and Spirits of Forest (1998).
