Summary: The mind-stimulating programme Teesari Aankh was basically conceived, produced and directed by the then Assistant Station Director of Doordarshan Kendra, Lucknow, Prabhu Jhingran. Conceptualized to bring about a sense of awareness among the neglected lot of the society, the skilful presentation coupled with mind-stimulating approach made threadbare comments. With this began a new chapter outlining a unique role to Doordarshan, in which the television was made available to the common man not only for giving vent to his plight, but also to suggest serious and practicable efforts for sorting them out.

Producer’s/Director’s Profile: Prabhu Jhingran is a Director with Prasar Bharati, Doordarshan Kendra, Lucknow. Has participated in various training programmes and involved in journalist activities. Has written more than 550 articles, interviews, comments, features and reports published in different newspapers, magazines and periodicals. U.P. Hindi Sansthan awarded his book titled Doordarshan published in 1996 and Television ki Duniya was awarded the best book of the year in Journalism category by Hindi Sansthan, Govternment of U.P. Awarded as Best Story Writer of the University (B.H.U.) in 1970-71. Participated in more than 25 drama shows as stage decorator, art director and actor. Produced and directed various documentaries like 30 minutes documentaries on Mahamana Madan Mohan Malviya, Pt. Gobind Vallabh, Rashtrakavi Pt. Madav Shukla for national telecast as outside producer using facilities from Lucknow Doordarshan, etc. Awarded in Feb 99 the Paryavaran Mitra award by the U.P. Government.
