Chandra S Negi did his M.Phil from School of Environmental Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and PhD on earthworm diversity and population dynamics from Kumaun University, Nainital. Along with teaching both undergraduate and postgraduates for the last 16 years, he has to his credit more than 30 research papers, five books: (i) Introduction to Endocrinology, (ii) Askote Conservation Landscape- Culture, Biodiversity and Economy, (iii) Earthworm Diversity and Nutrient Cycling, (iv) In the garb of Nanda Devi Raj Jaat-A cultural treatise of Western Himalaya, and (v) The Sacred Uttarakhand-Ethno-biological study surrounding sacred natural sites in Uttarakhand, apart from more than a dozen popular articles. Having successfully completed 7 major research projects focused to the field of conservation biology, culture, and traditional knowledge-based systems, Dr Negi is currently engaged in instituting some of the best conserved sacred natural sites within the state of Uttarakhand as Biodiversity Heritage Sites, apart from extending his expertise to both state and national institutes in the field of Conservation biology, Culture and traditional knowledge-based systems.
