The
Indian National trust for art and cultural heritage (INTACH) was
founded in 1984 with the vision to spearhead heritage awareness
and conservation in India. In the past two decades INTACH has pioneered
the conservation and preservation of not just our man-made heritage
but also natural and intangible heritage.
INTACH has been a pioneer in the field of heritage conservation.
As India’s premier non-government membership-based organization
in the field, its various departments and institutes work towards
the documentation and conservation of the nation’s cultural
and natural resources and initiate projects to sensitize the public,
particularly the future generations, towards their heritage, giving
the respect and dignity it deserves.
The INTACH mission upholds the constitutional duty to every Indian
citizen:
“To value and preserve the rich heritage of our composite
culture”
“To protect and improve the natural environment including
forests, lakes, rivers, wild life and to have compassion for living
creatures”.
(Article 51 A of the Indian Constitution – Fundamental Duties
IV A)
