IPCC estimates that 13 per cent of greenhouse gases globally are caused by the transport sector. In Mumbai, for example, 60 per cent of the air pollution is generated by vehicles. Delhi, the first city in the world to switch to compressed natural gas for all public vehicles, now has as many cars as the three other metros put together. It has now put in place the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) which has come under attack from the car lobby and an uninformed media.

The idea is to expose the journalists from other cities in India to the fact that BRTS is a low-cost and smart solution to transportation woes and that it stands in sharp contrast to the capital-intensive and long-gestation investment in a Metro.
