| Nomination Jury |
From all across the country 31 jury members
were associated with the process to short list the nominated entries from
the hub of 366 films. Veda Kumar was the chairperson of CMS VATAVARAN 2009
Nomination jury. The jury members came from diverse backgrounds ranging
in the areas of expertise from academics to water conservation, agriculture,
mass communication, art and culture and so on. The jury was divided into
six different committees according to their expertise, knowledge and interest
in the relevant field.
During the four day long (July 28-July 31, 2009) Nomination Jury screening
of the films jury members saw 216 Indian entries (in sixteen categories)
and 89 international entries (in nine categories). |

The process
to short list nominated films from
366 entries received for 5th CMS VATAVARAN,
Environment and Wildlife Film Festival
(27-31 Oct, 2009) kick started in
a big way on July 28, 2009 with the
lamp lighting ceremony within the
premises of CMS Research House, Saket.

The introductory address was given
by Lasse Bjørn Johannessen
(Charge d’ Affaires a.i. of
the Royal Norwegian Embassy). A A
Rao (Director, Media, MoEF) gave the
special invitee address. The occasion
was also graced by M Veda Kumar (President,
Forum for Better Hyderabad). The welcome
address was given by Dr N Bhaskara
Rao (Chairman CMS) and on behalf of
CMS PN Vasanti (Director, CMS) gave
a vote of thanks to all. The inaugural
ceremony concluded with the plantation
of a sapling by Johannessen and Veda
Kumar in the vicinity of CMS Research
House. |
