Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST) and CMS VATAVARAN conducted Film Festival & Forum on LiFE under the Environment Education Programme (EEP) of the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Govt. of India from March 28th-30th 2023 at Chandigarh University, Gharuan, Mohali. The unique green festival of 3 days screened award-winning national and international films on various aspects related to the issue of LiFE i.e Lifestyle For Environment. Focusing on various issues of LiFE, this festival also had a range of programs and forums to engage a wide variety of audiences with an aim to encourage students, youth, policy-makers, government officials and media representatives to adopt environment-friendly lifestyles in their day to day life.
The 3-day event featured screenings of a total of 14 various national and international award-winning films from different parts of the world on various relevant environmental issues like climate change & adaptation and mitigation, wildlife conservation, water conservation, forest conservation and sustainable livelihoods. This also included the 2022 Oscar-nominated Indian documentary film in the Best Documentary Feature Film category “All That Breathes” by filmmaker Shaunak Sen. In addition to the film screenings, a panel discussion on “Empowering Youth to Tackle Climate Change: Education for Sustainable Development” and Green Filmmaking Workshop led by Mr Ritesh Taksande from FTII, Pune was organized.
Approximately 1,800 students, members of the general public, and civil society participated in the festival. The festival aimed to inspire and educate individuals on how they can make a positive impact on the environment and contribute to a sustainable future.
